A Little Bird Told Me . . .

Such a cute sentiment - don't you think so too? We used two different Nestabilities sets by Spellbinders to create this card. The bird is a die called "Nested Bird" Cut the bird and the wing out of two different papers. The wing is the smallest of the three birds - just cut his nose off!! Gave him (I think he's a boy - he's blue) a black gem eye (Hero Arts) and a cute ribbon around his neck. Accented his wing and around the oval with the black spica glitter pen. Love to make little dots as accents - remember it's all in the details. The oval Nestability was used to create the background for this little blue bird. Did you know we have over 30 different styles of Nestabilities in stock and if we don't have what you are looking for we will happily order and we also mail charging just actual shipping charges.

I don't know if you can tell by this picture, but around the outside of the blue panel we used the new Scor-Bug to make cute little pierces as a simple edging - just the right addition to finish off the card. Also used foam adhesive squares on our little bird's wing to give the card more dimension.

Stop in soon to visit and shop - we'll be waiting for you.

Hope you enjoyed looking at this card as much as we enjoyed making it.

Hero Arts Long Floral Border Card

Here is another card that we will be putting out as a make and take soon. It is using the pretty Hero Arts Floral Border stamp. We colored directly on the stamp with our Tombow Markers - gave it a little "huff" and stamped it on the white card stock. Then used the Rangers Liquid Pearls Platinum color in the center of all of the flowers. This is such a great product and so easy to use - just squeeze on where you want it and let dry. It gives a nice raised effect. Note you can click on the picture to give you a closer view of the card.

Then took our black card stock and applied Scor-It tape (1/8") around all four outer edges - took off the liner paper and sprinkled our Great Impressions "Sparkling Ice" glitter on and tapped off the excess. We love the Sparkling Ice Glitter because it is so fine and sparkly and lets the color underneath show through. If you have not tried Scor-It tape yet, you really should. It is very similar to the Wonder Tape except that the Wonder Tape has a red plastic liner on top where the top liner of the Scor-It tape is paper, so rather than having to cut it with a scissors you can just rip it with your fingernail. The best thing about the Scor-It Tape in comparison to the Wonder Tape is the price - Scor-It is so much more economical (cheaper-he, he). This tape is made by the same folks who make the great Scor-Pal - love it too! Then adhered our black glitzy card to the white stamped panel with foam adhesive dots to give the card a little dimension. Ran the lavender panel through the Cuttlebug using the Argyle embossing folder (love that argyle), put a cute black and white ribbon around the lavender panel, adhered everything together and TA-DA it is complete. So much fun and easy too.

Hope this card inspires you to make some art today. Stop in soon as we have lots of samples in the store and you are welcome to take pictures. Everyone who works at The Bakers Wife is very knowledgeable about the products we carry, have used all of them - and, of course, we LOVE to stamp and scrap.

Another take of Distress Inks, Perfect Pearls, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder & Nestabilities

Had so much fun doing the last card, decided to do a second just using some different colors and the same technique. This time we used Ranger Dried Marigold Distress Ink and Gold Perfect Pearls. Used the same Nestabilities, just switched the background color out with the secondary color. Can't believe what a difference it makes.

Those cute flowers that are at the bottom are a new ribbon we got in last week - don't you just love it? They are puffy and soft and since they are white you could color them whatever color you want with your ink pads. Phyllis told us that you get approximately 55 daises in a yard for a very reasonable price of 70 cents per yard. You just can't go wrong at that price. What is that beautiful bling in the center of these flowers? Those are the new Basic Grey Bling Gems. There are two colors in each package (the package we used was orange/red). There are 80 total gems - 40 of each color and what is really nice is that there are five different sizes. They are self adhesive and what makes them really classy is the fact that they have a silver bottom which reaches around to the side so you can see the silver on the side of the each gem. These come in both the round as was used on this card and also square - we have lots of colors too!

You just have to stop in soon to check out all the new products we have in for summer - you definitely won't be disappointed. If you see something on the blog that you would like to order just give us a buzz at 715-356-5626 or e-mail us. We are always willing to ship - and only charge actual shipping charges.

Just remember we are here to help you preserve your memories and encourage you to spread your creative wings and try some new products and techniques!

The Happy/Friendly Staff at the Bakers Wife

Fun with Distress Inks, Perfect Pearls & Nestabilities

Just wanted to drop in to show you a new make and take we will have out shortly. It uses some of our favorite things in the store. We die cut the white circle with the Nestabilities Small Classic Inverted Scalloped Circles (S4-195 you get 6 sizes of inverted scalloped circles in the set) using the Cuttlebug. Then die cut the yellow circle with the Nestabilities Small Standard Scalloped Circles again using the Cuttlebug. Then used the Swiss Dot folder with the Cuttlebug to emboss the blue layer.

For the stamping we used the beautiful Memory Box Butterfly and stamped with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. While it was still wet used a brush to apply Gold Perfect Pearls by Ranger and then dried with a heat gun and brushed off any excess. It gives the card such a pretty shine. Used the cute black ribbon with white dashes and a Hero Arts flower from the white and cream collection and a Hero Arts black gemstone. So easy and so much fun. Stop in soon and make one of these new make and takes - they're still only a dollar.

Just a note that we have a great selection of Nestabilities and are always willing to order what you would like and we do also ship.

Keep on stamping and scrapping!

Masculine Cards

I don't know about anyone else, but I just totally struggle with masculine cards. When we got a new paper in from one of our favorite paper company's Paper's Best and I saw paper with ducks on it I thought to myself - now that's masculine!!!!
I was able to make 4 cards out of one sheet of scrapbook paper. I used our new ZVA gems on this card. I put a gem in each of the ducks eyes and also 5 gems along the right hand side of the sentiment. I just love these gems. You get 12 colors in this selection (around 400 total gems). They are not adhesive, so all I did was use a toothpick and my Ultimate Glue and had no problems at all adhering them to my project.
Hope you like this card and it sparks your creativity to make some masculine cards - remember Father's Day is just around the corner. Stop by and see all of our card samples and make and takes. Remember to bring in your cameras so you can take pictures!
Have a great Memorial Day weekend and stop by to visit soon - can't wait to see you and show you all of the cool things we have in stock.

A BIG THANK YOU!!!

Thank you to all of you who visited us during the Sayner Stampede. It was so much fun!!!!

Our Flower Soft was a hit - everyone enjoyed being able to "try before you buy" with the cute card topper make and take. We were really happy to see that our customers are as excited about this product as we are.

As usual, we had some really great make and takes - alot of customers took us up on our deal of if you made 10 make and takes you got a free card keeper (a $3.00 value). We did change the make and takes out several times during the weekend and had plenty of people come back to make more. I think the biggest hit was the bear cubs on a birch tree and our northwoods cabin card using cork paper - they were both really nice.

We did already have to make about 10 reorders as some of our northwoods selections sold out - that's OK though we are very proud of having the largest selection of northwoods embellishments, stamps, and papers in the area.

Well thanks again for helping us to make our Stampede weekend a big success - we appreciate all of you!

OH HAPPY DAY!!!

We just got high speed internet here at The Bakers Wife and is it great! I am blogging to you right from work - so I can run around the store and pick up all the new items and give you a really good description of them.

First off - we have been waiting a long time, but our Great Outdoors Scrapbook Kit has finally arrived from Momenta (formerly American Traditional Designs). This bundle contains 32 sheets of outdoors type paper, 8 sheets of cardstock, 1 sheet of vellum words and 10 punchout sheets including alphabets, tags, die cut outdoors pictures, words, file folders, and envelopes. You have to stop in to check them out - it would make a perfect Christmas gift for the scrapbooker in your life.

We also got in some new Prima pebbles - these are totally awesome. They are like the page pebbles, but instead of just being see through there is a picture in each of them - how cool is that? We have four different styles, one with butterflies, travel, children, and heritage themes. Also in from Prima is their black and white Whispers flowers. These are flowers made out of organdy material (see through). They are really beautiful and would make a great addition to your cards of scrapbook pages.

Just put in an order today for some of the Lizzie Anne Designs stamps. These sets have been popular with our customers and her new Christmas words are totally awesome. They should be coming in soon.

Well just had to try this new high speed internet out - I think I'm in love (LOL).

Enjoy this nice weather while it is here!

We have some very nice Thanksgiving sayings, beautiful fall leaves, a great turkey stamp, cornucopia and a beautiful fall wreath. We also have some Inkadinkadoo and Judith fall and Thanksgiving stamps.

As far as paper goes - we got in the SEI Alpine Frost line which has a very northwoods look to it. From Basic Grey we got in the Ambrosia line and the Granola line also buttons and brads to go with. Stop in and check these lines out - they have some great fall colors in them.
